Garden Landscaping
Harpenden, Hertfordshire
We are delighted to present this garden landscaping project in Harpenden in our portfolio.
The Brief
Our clients were planning a major refurbishment of their home so wanted a stunning family garden to compliment their lifestyle and the structural changes to their house. They wanted to see more of their garden from the house and be able to enjoy it all year round.
The Garden Landscaping
The newly designed garden now includes a dining space with outdoor kitchen and a lounge area with a beautiful fire-table as its centre piece. We wanted to introduce important views from several windows and doors. So to make the most of these, we created focal points, drawing the eye through the space. We also designed unadorned metal arches to create an uninterrupted view through the garden as you walk through the newly positioned front door. Carefully considering the lighting, we created drama in the evenings, and a garden that our clients can enjoy at night.
Finally, we were thrilled to be able to incorporate the original natural stone archway in the new design. And we framed the view of it using the contemporary metal arches.
The Planting
We planned the planting to look fabulous throughout the year, so used evergreen clipped yew balls and standard Prunus lusitanica trees, creating rythm and structure. Furthermore, using beautiful pleached Beech trees we visually divided the formal, ‘grown-up’ space from the children’s play area. And created a natural screen of Prunus serrula between the lounge area and the lower lawn.
